After the success of SHAPE’s previous works for The Star Entertainment Group, the team was asked to complete the refurbishment of The Star Darling Porte Cochere to create a distinctive arrival experience appropriate for the memorable Forbes Five-Star Hotel.

The works included the removal and replacement of Aluminum Composite Panels (ACP) with like for like, design and development of a bespoke light feature integrated into the ceiling of the arrivals area, new wall & column finishes with LED Lighting as well as the installation of Anti-terrorism security bollards in existing locations.

The project ran over an 8-week programme in total, with the 2 stages running concurrently. Stage 1 consisted of the hotel entrance, which was functional at the time and required minimal disruption to hotel operations. Phase 2 comprised all the works to the Porte Cochere.

Quality Assurance was a top priority for the client as the ACP remediation was in line with government compliance. This was managed by using a QR code system for each individual panel to track their replacement. Once replaced, the team also arranged to recycle the old ACP panels to minimise waste.

The highlight of this project is the high-end finishes and attention to detail, particularly the stainless steel & stone finishes and bespoke lighting features that set the tone for the extravagant hotel.
