SHAPE was appointed by Trout Creative to transform an existing clothing warehouse into an agile office space as their previous lease had expired. This project was a design and construct delivery model and included demolition works and a base-building services upgrade.

This project started as an eight-week fast-track program and evolved into a 40-week design and construct.

The scope of works included:

  • End of trip facilities
  • A photography studio
  • Project and collaborative zones
  • Quiet hubs
  • A new alfresco main entry

Our team was responsible for coordinating multiple stakeholders, working closely with the client and consultants to value engineer the project to fit the budget. We also undertook this project within an occupied environment and had to consider business operations and surrounding tenancies.

Trout’s concerns centred around the design flexibilities/ inflexibilities, budget, the process, and the outcome of the project as this presented potential delays in all forms. We maintained a measured approach with the client in addressing their concerns and facilitated an environment of assurance. Concerns were addressed through a variety of methods including reinforcing the project outcomes and design parameters, reviewing the design options and programming implications, undertaking a physical set out of the space and conducting stakeholder walk-throughs to assist with spatial visualisation.

Despite the ever-evolving brief, our team fostered a collaborative approach to deliver the client’s final vision while managing two architectural firms. The result was a sophisticated office space for Trout.
