The aim of the project was to fitout an inpatient unit to accommodate 60 bed spaces. The key client value was to ensure constant communication with the client during the construction and also take into account the care of patients and implementing infection control measures.
Based on past experience working within clinical spaces, our team were aware of the complexity of working within a live hospital environment and meeting strict time frames for noisy works. This project required the execution of six shutdowns of varying complexities, affecting multiple floors in the tower block, in order to disconnect and reconnect the newly installed switchboards on level 5. We managed these shutdowns by involving department representatives from all affected floors in the hospital and carrying out exhaustive investigations. All shutdowns were successfully executed with minimal disruption to the hospital operations and its occupants.
SHAPE successfully delivered a first class refurbishment that was delivered on time, on budget and satisfied the client’s needs.
